IRONWOOD COLLECTIVE
At Ironwood Collective, our goal is to make planning for the future for yourself or with your loved one easier through the process of facilitation. Facilitation is about curiosity, creativity, imagination and innovation. As facilitators we work from a place of possibility and are excited to see what comes next! Facilitators do this first and foremost by looking to the abundance of resources found in the community.
The Ironwood tree is known for its durable wood and spiritual significance to Indigenous people. For us, the Ironwood symbolizes our enduring partnership – one that is rooted in shared values and respect for all people and driven by our commitment to support people to live a life of their own choosing. We also acknowledge the life-giving elements we are all privileged to experience through community with one another and the natural world.
Facilitation is about the person and what they want
to see happen in their life.
Best practises suggest that for facilitation to be successful there is dedicated distance and clearly articulated boundaries between service delivery and facilitation. Facilitation also involves gathering people who genuinely care about the person to ensure that the person remains front and centre in directing their own life. This gathering of people enhances
and expands a person’s network by inviting others in the community to be part of the person’s life.

our offerings
Planning with your loved one can feel overwhelming and it can be hard to know where to start. Sometimes it can be helpful to get specific about what it is that your loved one really needs. For families considering facilitation the most important step is just to start– one step is going to lead you to the next one. We offer facilitation and planning support in the above areas.

Everyone has a pathway, and sometimes that pathway isn’t a straight line. Sometimes it takes us down many roads we never imagined, but we end up where we need to be. I help families shape their vision for the long term and then plan backwards from there to establish milestones and their success criteria along the way to ensure we are on track.

Over the years I have worked to build and find places and spaces of belonging for people in their community. This is why I am passionate about providing facilitation from a community-based approach. I work with individuals, families, organizations and groups to develop and implement strategies that strengthen people and recognize their autonomy while identifying opportunities for people to contribute and belong through valued social roles.

After being in the field of disability support services for over 25 years I realized I could do more. I want to be there for the families who don't know where to start, families who have a child recently diagnosed, and people who wish that someone could guide them on to the next steps of living a meaningful and purposeful life. I am here to listen to you, hear you, and most importantly, take my lead from you. This is your path, your future, your choice.
